Why You Should Never Buy Supplements from Amazon or the Drugstore

Let’s talk about something I get asked all the time:
“Can I just grab this supplement from Amazon or CVS?”

Short answer?
Please don’t. 🙅🏻‍♀️
Let me explain why—because it matters more than you might think.

The Truth About Where You Buy Supplements

Supplements aren’t regulated like prescription medications. That means what’s on the label isn’t always what’s in the bottle. No one is double-checking for purity, potency, or accuracy unless the company chooses to invest in third-party testing—and many don’t. 😬

And sadly, most people have no idea. Let’s break it down:

1. Amazon is a Wild West for Supplements

Sure, it’s convenient. But Amazon allows third-party sellers to list products, even when you think you're buying directly from a brand. That means your supplement could:

  • Sit in hot, humid warehouses where delicate ingredients degrade

  • Be repackaged or relabeled with fake expiration dates

  • Be completely counterfeit—with no active ingredients at all (or worse, the wrong ones)

Even if the bottle looks legit, you have no idea where it’s been or what’s actually inside.

Bottom line: Amazon is for lightbulbs and baby socks. Not your liver support or hormone balance. 💁🏻‍♀️

2. Drugstore & Grocery Store Brands Cut Corners

Walk into any big box store and you’ll see rows of vitamins that look healthy, but they’re often:

  • Made with synthetic, poorly-absorbed forms

  • Loaded with cheap fillers, dyes, and additives

  • Lacking in potency, effectiveness, and bioavailability

Take B12 for example:
If it says cyanocobalamin—which is extremely common in store-bought vitamins—that form is not only harder for your body to use, but it’s actually derived from cyanide. Yes… cyanide.

You deserve better than that.

3. Even Trusted Brands Can Be Faked

You might think you’re playing it safe by ordering a “good” brand off Amazon. But I’ve had clients react to products they’ve used before with no issue—only to find out they unknowingly bought a counterfeit or expired version.

These fake products often:

  • Have no active ingredients

  • Are filled with unlabeled substances

  • Can trigger new symptoms (fatigue, rashes, digestive issues, etc.)

And unfortunately, most people will just assume “that brand didn’t work for me”—when really, it wasn’t that brand at all.

So Where Should You Shop?

When it comes to supplements, I only recommend practitioner-trusted platforms that verify purity, potency, and safe handling.

Here are the options I share with all of my clients:

Why It Matters

When you invest in supplements, you’re investing in your wellness. The right ones can improve energy, balance hormones, support detox, and more. The wrong ones? They waste your money—or worse, create new symptoms.

This is why I vet every product I recommend and guide my clients through supplement plans that are bio-individual and backed by clinical quality.
